One of the most common rules we encounter on the golf course involves taking a drop from a cartpath. To do so correctly you must go step by step. It's not quite as simple as tossing your ball to some nearby grass, but once you know what to do, it's quick and easy and you will feel confident playing anywhere.
Here's what to do. |
1) Do not move your ball until you have established where your relief will be.
2) in the illustration on the left, the player is facing the hole. He establishes a comfortable stance clear of the path and, using the club he intends to hit, places it on the ground as shown. 3) He places a tee where the club head rests on the ground. This is his "nearest point of relief." 4) He measures one club length from the tee (can use a driver for greatest measure) and places another tee in the ground. Now he has his place to drop the ball between the two tees. 5) |
